Louie Bartenfield founded Carters Lake Guide Service in 2003 and has since built a career entirely around mastering the art of fishing Carters Lake, one of North Georgia’s premier bass destinations. Blessed with over two decades of on-water experience, Louie has developed a deep understanding of the lake’s underwater structure, seasonal patterns, and trophy growth potential—particularly for spotted bass.

 Louie is also a devoted family man—married to his wife, Valerie, whom he describes as “the sweetest woman in the world,” and together they are raising their daughter, Haley. His close-knit family and faith form the foundation of his work ethic and passion.

A pivotal moment for Louie was when he met Robbie Linginfelter and passed on his refined techniques and “system” for catching big bass at Carters Lake, ensuring his legacy and expertise continue through the next generation of guides Over the years, Louie has guided clients from across the country, teaching advanced sonar/electronics usage, finesse techniques like drop shots and shaky heads, and strategic fish-finding skills based on real-time conditions and data Known for both his professional tournament wins and his ability to connect with clients on a personal level, Louie blends technical instruction with warm hospitality—making every trip educational, predictable, and memorable.
